The curriculum in Year 11 and 12 is based around the requirements of the NSW Higher School Certificate and designed to allow our girls to exercise considerable choice over their subjects in the senior school. During these two years, the courses offered in all subjects build on the skills developed in Year 7-10 to ensure the girls are challenged and equipped with the essential set of values, skills and knowledge to achieve their goals and face the challenges beyond school. Every girl in Year 5-12 has a Tablet PC as part of our 1:1 Program.
Achieving the best for each Girl
As the girls grow and mature, they are challenged to strive for excellence and their personal best, reflect on their learning and take increasing responsibility for this knowledge. It is also essential that each girl maximises her personal learning skills in critical information literacy skills, research skills, communication, organisation, time management, higher-order thinking and active participation.
Independence, Confidence and Collaboration
In the classroom, our goal is to assist our girls to be confident, capable, articulate, resilient young women, ready to take their place in an ever-changing world. We encourage our girls to be self-initiating and increasingly self-reliant. Throughout Year 11 and 12, ongoing communication and a strong partnership between the girls and each one of their teachers is fundamental to making this a reality.
Responsibility and Leadership
As the girls learn to take responsibility for their learning, they are also asked to undertake other positions of responsibility within the school. For example, some of our Year 11 girls may be elected to the Student Representative Council or their House Committees. Our Year 12 girls form many different leadership teams within the school, from the School Prefects, to the House Captains, to the Transport Seniors.
