SCEGGS DARLINGHURST

Overview

A SCEGGS Darlinghurst education provides girls with a foundation for life-long learning and the opportunity to realise her potential. We aim for our girls to be confident, articulate, resilient young women, ready to take their place in an ever-changing world.

We are an inner city, non-selective school, educating within the context of Christian values. We emphasise the worth of the individual, personal integrity and social responsibility.

The interdependent and essential elements of a SCEGGS education include:

  • A broad, rigorous curriculum
  • A diverse co-curricular program
  • Leadership opportunities
  • An integrated, inclusive pastoral program

The learning experiences and adventures arising within these programs help to equip our girls with the essential set of values, skills and knowledge to achieve their goals and face the challenges beyond school.

The SCEGGS philosophy is to ensure that our academic curriculum:

  • Maintains strong academic traditions and high expectations and standards
  • Values learning in all subjects
  • Provides a balance between practical and theoretical subjects

Our staff work in partnership with students and their parents to foster capable and flexible learners who are skilled communicators, open-minded, independent and able to reflect critically on society and its values.

Achieving the best for each Girl
As the girls grow and mature, they are challenged to strive for excellence and their personal best, reflect on their learning and take increasing responsibility for this knowledge. Within an environment where the intellectual, spiritual, emotional and social development of each girl is affirmed and developed, individual needs are met, talents are nurtured and diversity of ideas valued.

SCEGGS aims to develop girls who are confident, independent thinkers able to adapt and respond to the challenges throughout their lives.
