Cycling
On Saturday Olivia Kibble rode in the 108km Letape Cycle Event in Jindabyne - run by the Tour de France. She was the sole junior female rider and rode for just over 5 hours. She conquered the Beloka Climb coming 32 out of 201 females and 153 out of 941 out of all the riders, in a ride which was described in the SMH as “brutal”. Well done Olivia on this remarkable achievement.

IGSSA Water Polo
Well done to the SCEGGS 2 team who finished equal first in Grade S06 in the IGSSA Water Polo competition. SCEGGS 4 were also runners up in Grade J07.

 

Hornsby-Kuringai District Tennis Association
Congratulations to SCEGGS 2 who finished in 1st place in Grade S7. SCEGGS 3 also finished 1st in Grade S8. Well done to all players!

 

Futsal
Well done to SCEGGS 1 Futsal team who were narrowly defeated in Senior Division 1 grand final by Kincoppal Rose Bay on Friday evening. The match a very even with the score 4-5 at the completion of the game.

IPSHA Years 4-6 Football 2019
On Saturday 2 February, we will have our first training session for the 2019 year at Moore Park Turf fields (Near the cnr Robertson and Lang Rd). We will also be trialling some of the girls who have had injuries this year and will decide final teams in Week 2 of Term 1.

 Time: Year 4: 8.00am-9.30am   and   Years 5 & 6: 9.30am-11.00am
Wear: SCEGGS sports uniform, shin pads, long SCEGGS socks and trainers or boots                 
(Football boots are not compulsory)
Bring: Large water bottle, sunscreen

The first Tuesday training session will be on Tuesday 5 February at Moore Park Turf Fields (Near the cnr Robertson and Lang Rd). The girls will catch the bus from SCEGGS and can be picked up at 4.50pm at Moore Park or approximately 5.20pm outside the Sports Hall in Forbes Street.

Please ensure your daughter has a healthy snack, i.e. fruit or cheese and biscuits, no chips etc. and a large water bottle.

 

Year 3 Basketball 2019
Year 3 Basketball will start with two weeks of training and learning the rules of the game.

Training Dates:   Saturday 2 Feb and Saturday 9 Feb in the SCEGGS Sports Hall from 8.00am – 10.30am.            

Matches will commence on Saturday 16 Feb at SCEGGS.

Tuesday 5 Feb will be the first after school training session in the SCEGGS Sports Hall. The girls will be collected from their classroom at 3.10pm and taken to the Sports Hall. They will have a snack before commencing the session. Please ensure your daughter has a large water bottle as well.

Wear: SCEGGS Sports uniform and sport shoes

Bring: Large water bottle and healthy snack, i.e. fruit or cheese and biscuits, no chips etc.

Well done to India Hobbs and Mardi Downing who represented Sydney University at the Head of the Yarra in Victoria over the weekend. The girls were part of the Sydney University Eight in a 8.6km time trial and placed second behind Queensland University which was a wonderful result.

IGSSA Water Polo
Congratulations to Lana Oppenheim, Sienna Green and Sophie O’Connell who were all selected in the IGSSA Water Polo teams. The girls will now go on to trial for the NSWCIS Water Polo Team in February next year.

Touch Football Semi Final Draw
The Semi Final and Play Off Touch Football Draw has been uploaded to Cognito for students and parents to access. It has also been posted on the Sports Notice Board.

All teams have a game this weekend, 24 November. Please check fields and times.

Open Water Swimming
Well done to Daisy Message who competed in the Metro South West Open Water Championships where she placed 4th in the 5km event.

Daisy has qualified for the NSW Open Water Championships in December in both the 5km and the 7.5km event and the Australian Open Water Championships in Adelaide in January. We wish her all the best of luck with her training in the lead up to these events.

2019 Year 7 Touch Trials
We will be holding Trials for all students in Year 6 who have signed up to play East Touch in Term I, 2019. The Trials will be held on Friday 23 November from 4.00pm-6.00pm at the Reservoir Fields, Centennial Park.

A bus will depart SCEGGS at 3.20pm to take students to Reservoir Fields. Parents are then expected to collect students from the field at 6.00pm.

Saturday mornings have seen much activity with Year 3 on the Football fields at Ascham and Years 4-6 Basketball at SCEGGS and other school venues. Thank you to parents for ensuring your daughter is at her match 30 mins before the game for warm up. It makes such a difference for the coach to have this time with the whole team to prepare them fully for their game.

Well done to some of our fencers who have been busy competing. Georgina Dandolo gained Bronze and Amelia Whelan gained Silver at the U14 Girls Foil Sydney Olympic Cup.

Australian Junior Water Polo Camp
A big congratulations to Sienna Green who has been invited by Water Polo Australia to attend the born 2002 Australian Squad training camp to trial for the Australian Junior Team. This is a wonderful achievement as Sienna wasn’t actually born until 2004! The camp will be held at the Institute of Sport in Canberra in November.

Snowsports
Well done to Lily Punch who has been selected in the NSW/ACT U’16 Alpine team for 2019. This follows a successful season of racing in Ski & Snowboard Australia events.

NSWCIS Athletics Championships – held Tuesday 25/9/18

SCEGGS had 8 students compete at the NSWCIS Athletics Championships at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre, Homebush and all of them performed very well. Highlights of the day were as follow:

Alia Levi: 1st in the 13 years shot put
5th in the 13 years discus
Laura Roderick: 2nd in the 15 years 1500m
Mia Whalley: made the 16 years High Jump Final
Nina Schoff: 13th 17 years 100m

IGSSA Grand Finals Results
Well done to our five teams that played in Grand Finals on the weekend. SCEGGS had a very successful morning winning four of these competitions.

IGSSA Hockey
SCEGGS 3 were joint Premiers with Wenona 4 after playing extra time and the score remaining 0-0. SCEGGS 6 defeated Abbotsleigh 14 in another thrilling match 1-0.

IGSSA Netball
SCEGGS 2 were runners- up to PLC Sydney 2 after being defeated 33 -17.
SCEGGS 18 defeated St Catherine’s 6 in a close fought match (9-2).
SCEGGS 20 defeated Kincoppal Rose Bay 26 in a heart stopping match with only one goal the difference (13-12).

Karate
Congratulations to Elise Aroney who competed at the 2018 IKO Australian Championships in Brisbane. Elise won her division in fighting and in the “Team Kata”. Well done Elise!
