Head of Visual Arts (Years 7 - 12)

Applications are invited from passionate and enthusiastic Visual Arts teachers with strong leadership skills and the vision and experience required to lead our vibrant department from the beginning of 2020.

The Head of Visual Arts is responsible for a broad range of both curricular and co-curricular activities in the school. The successful applicant for this key leadership position will be a highly accomplished classroom teacher and a passionate and enthusiastic artist, engaged in the world of contemporary art practice. As an active practitioner, they will have a love of visual arts and a passion to share this enthusiasm within an educational context. They will be able to encourage, engage and inspire both staff and students, have experience in curriculum differentiation and expertise in using a range of different pedagogical strategies within the classroom, including the effective use of technology. The successful applicant will also have experience in managing and co-ordinating co-curricular programs in Art, such as photography and drawing.

The Head of Visual Arts is responsible for the leadership and administration of the department, including curriculum, programming, assessment, staff performance and development and the promotion of Visual Arts within the school community. The successful applicant will have strong leadership skills, high level communication skills and the ability to motivate and lead a diverse team, by modelling the highest standards of professional skill and collaborative teaching practice. They will also be committed to the full life of the school and supportive of its Christian ethos.
