Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students Co-ordinator (K-12)

Applications are invited from passionate and enthusiastic staff for the role of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students Co-ordinator (K-12). This position commences in Term 1, 2020 and is a permanent, full-time position (but a part-time role may be considered for a preferred candidate). Applicants for this role should have appropriate tertiary qualifications (for example, in education, social work, counselling or psychology).
The successful applicant for this role will encourage and support the academic achievement and socio-emotional development of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. They will work with teachers across the school to foster culturally responsive educational environments/ experiences and so in turn support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to reach their potential. They will also work to strengthen inter-cultural awareness and further knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and contributions across the whole school community.
As a key point of contact in the school, the successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in developing strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities to provide support and foster equal and equitable opportunities to participate in the education process. They will have excellent organisational skills together with the interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills required to support student learning. The successful applicant will have had experience working flexibly, independently and in partnership with teams of teachers to provide advice and design programs to support individual students. They will also have experience working with students in small groups and in one-on-one situations. The successful applicant for this role will be committed to the full life of the school and supportive of its Christian ethos.
This is an identified Aboriginal position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and or /Torres Strait Islander cultures and have established links with their local Aboriginal community.
